Overview

Omega Technical Services is seeking qualified local Project Engineer I / II candidates to support Navarro-ATL under the BMA Project Staff Support contract at the 222-S Laboratory on the Hanford Site.

 

This role supports multiple active and upcoming projects in a highly regulated nuclear environment, requiring strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to produce accurate, compliant engineering documentation.  The Project Engineer will work closely with project design authority, construction teams, and stakeholders to support design, construction, fabrication, and project execution activities.

 

Salary Range:

  • Level I: $155,000 – $185,000
  • Level II: $175,000 – $194,000

Responsibilities

Project Design Support

  • Support development of project design requirements, including Modification Travelers and Statements of Work (SOWs)
  • Ensure documentation of design basis, specifications, criteria, and code of record is complete and compliant
  • Lead design reviews, collect and track comments through resolution
  • Route and manage design deliverables through Smart Plant Foundation (SPF)
  • Participate in field walkdowns to verify configuration and field conditions
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for project scope components

Construction Support

  • Respond to Requests for Information (RFIs) and support construction execution
  • Review and approve submittals and redline design drawings
  • Assist in development and review of construction SOWs and work packages
  • Support development of:
    • Master Submittal Register/Log
    • Vendor Submittal Distribution Matrix
  • Ensure work is executed in accordance with procedures and design documents
  • Support commissioning and testing of completed installations

Fabrication Support

  • Support development of procurement specifications, SOWs, and Inspection Test Plans (ITPs)
  • Review vendor submittals and support fabrication inspections
  • Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely delivery
  • Assist with planning and coordination of fabricator site visits for quality oversight
  • Collaborate with Project Design Authority (DA) and Quality Assurance (QA)

General Tasks

  • Facilitate clear and timely communication with project stakeholders
  • Prepare presentations and status reports for management
  • Initiate and manage document workflows for design and vendor documentation
  • Provide technical guidance to resolve field and design issues

Education Requirements

Project Engineer I

  • BS Degree in an Engineering discipline from an accredited college or university and 7 years of related experience.

Project Engineer II

  • BS Degree in an Engineering discipline from an accredited college or university and 10 years of related experience with at least 3 of the years leading related projects or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.

Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required site access/clearance
  • Demonstrated experience supporting engineering, technical, or operations activities in a nuclear facility environment
  • Strong technical writing and documentation skills with high attention to detail
  • Experience supporting design, construction, or fabrication activities
  • Ability to work on-site at the Hanford Site (local candidates preferred)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience supporting DOE or Hanford Site projects
  • Familiarity with Smart Plant Foundation (SPF) or similar document management systems
  • Experience with nuclear facility readiness, startup, or operations support
  • Active DOE clearance

Work Schedule

4/10’s (10 hours/day; four days per week).
