Overview

We are seeking a Structural Engineer to support infrastructure, facility, and capital improvement projects at a highly regulated federal site in North Las Vegas, Nevada. The engineer will independently develop and review calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical analyses while supporting multi-discipline design and construction efforts.

 

The role requires interpreting technical data, performing engineering studies, and developing practical design solutions compliant with federal, state, and local regulations. Experience working within Department of Energy (DOE) environments or nuclear facilities is strongly desired.

 

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and coordinate structural engineering tasks for multi-discipline design and construction projects
  • Prepare and review calculations, drawings, and specifications
  • Perform seismic and wind analyses
  • Perform foundation design, structural framing analysis and design, and bracing analysis and design
  • Develop construction specifications and technical documentation
  • Interpret engineering data and conduct engineering studies to develop solutions
  • Support planning, design, and construction phases of projects
  • Participate in field inspections and evaluation of construction work
  • Support renovation and modification of existing facilities
  • Utilize MicroStation CAD software for engineering design documentation

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil or Structural Engineering and a minimum of 5 years of experience in design, estimating, specification preparation, construction document preparation, and construction inspection.

Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of Federal (including DOE Orders), State, and Local codes and standards applicable to structural engineering design
  • Experience preparing construction documents and engineering specifications
  • Experience in facility renovation or modification projects
  • Familiarity with MicroStation drafting software
  • Ability to independently perform engineering analysis and problem solving
  • Possession of an active DOE/DoD clearance within the past two (2) years is preferred. 
  • Previous DOE/NNSA work experience. 
  • Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen. 
  • Satisfactory results of a pre-employment screening, which includes a drug and breath alcohol test, along with a Motor Vehicle Record check. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Experience supporting Department of Energy sites or nuclear facilities
  • Experience supporting regulated government or industrial infrastructure environments

Work Schedule

A 40 hour work week is scheduled. Client utilizes various work schedules including 5/8s (8 hour/day; five days per week), 4/10’s (10 hours/day; four days per week), and 9/80’s (9 hours/day, five days on week AA and four days on week BB. Work week excludes Client holidays. Each workday has 30-minute lunch. Overtime will be expected at times to meet deliverables and will be utilized at the discretion of the Manager.
