Overview

Omega Technical Services is seeking a highly motivated Work Control Planner 2 support ongoing operations in Los Alamos, NM.

 

The Work Control Planner supports operations, maintenance, and modification activities within a secure nuclear facility by developing, reviewing, and closing detailed work packages. This role is responsible for planning and coordinating work activities to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient execution in accordance with approved procedures, safety requirements, and operational constraints.

 

The Work Control Planner prepares time, material, and labor estimates; develops written step-by-step work instructions; incorporates safety, testing, and radiological requirements; resolves work restraints; and ensures work packages are brought through final closure. Planning activities may support mechanical, electrical, chemical, and/or radiological systems and equipment.

 

This is a full-time, on-site position supporting 24/7 operations at TA-55 and requires the ability to work in a secure area with confidential information.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and/or review work packages, including labor, material, and time estimates

  • Create clear, step-by-step work instructions in accordance with approved procedures

  • Incorporate safety, testing, radiological, and quality requirements into work packages

  • Coordinate planning activities for mechanical, electrical, chemical, and radiological systems

  • Identify and resolve work restraints to support safe and timely execution

  • Support work package execution through final closeout

  • Interface with operations, maintenance, engineering, and safety personnel

  • Ensure work planning aligns with facility policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements

  • Support outage, emergent, and routine maintenance planning activities

  • Maintain accurate documentation within approved work management systems

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 5 years of related work planning experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Qualifications

  • Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Ability to obtain DOE Q-Clearance (active clearance not required to start)
  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 5 years of related work planning experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Experience developing or reviewing work packages in a regulated industrial, nuclear, DOE, or similar environment

  • Ability to work in a secure area and handle confidential information

  • Ability to support 24/7 operations, including nights, weekends, on-call, and overtime as required

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established procedures

  • Effective communication and coordination skills 

  • Satisfactory results of a pre-employment screening, which includes a drug and breath alcohol test, along with a Motor Vehicle Record check

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in nuclear, radiological, or high-hazard facilities

  • Prior experience supporting DOE or NNSA facilities

  • Proficiency or familiarity with:

    • Maintenance Work Planning (MWP)

    • Primavera P6

    • Asset Suite (preferred, not required)

  • PPA Certification (nice to have)

  • Experience resolving work restraints and coordinating across multiple disciplines
