Omega Technical Services is seeking a highly motivated Senior Nuclear Engineer to support ongoing operations in Oak Ridge, TN. This position plays a vital role in advancing critical mission objectives within a highly regulated and technically demanding environment.

Responsibilities

The Nuclear Engineer supports nuclear and radiological analysis activities and the preparation of safety documentation for DOE nuclear facilities. This position contributes to the development and maintenance of Documented Safety Analyses (DSAs), hazard and accident analyses, and supporting technical documentation under the guidance of senior technical staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform nuclear and radiological analyses supporting safety basis documentation for nuclear facilities.

  • Assist in the preparation and update of Documented Safety Analyses (DSAs), hazard analyses, and accident analyses in accordance with DOE Standard 3009-2014.

  • Support safety basis change evaluations and technical assessments.

  • Participate in interdisciplinary engineering reviews and safety basis working groups.

  • Prepare technical calculations, reports, and supporting documentation.

  • Incorporate regulatory and standards-based requirements into safety documentation.

  • Support internal and external reviews, audits, and regulatory interactions as required.

Education Requirements

Bachelor of Science degree in Nuclear Engineering from an ABET-accredited engineering program.

Qualifications

  • Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen. 
  • Satisfactory results of a pre-employment screening, which includes a drug and breath alcohol test, along with a Motor Vehicle Record check. 
  • Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Security Clearance.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of nuclear and radiological analysis and/or documented safety analysis preparation in accordance with DOE Standard 3009-2014.
  • Strong analytical, technical writing, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-based, regulated environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Possession of an active DOE/DoD clearance within the past two (2) years is preferred. 
  • Previous DOE/NNSA work experience. 
  • Prior experience serving as a technical reviewer or safety basis authority.

  • Advanced degree in Nuclear Engineering or related discipline.

Work Schedule

Shift will be dependent upon customer site discretion.
