Overview

Omega Technical Services is seeking an experienced Senior Drafter/Designer to provide support to our client on site power operations and engineering staff in the Las Vegas, NV area.

Responsibilities

This position is to provide support to the Site Power operations and engineering staff by preparing high voltage electrical and wiring drawings for site power, comprised of transmission, substation, and distribution elements up to 138 kV. Support to include routine layouts, detailed drawings, assembly drawings, sketches, diagrams, and all views and dimensions necessary for construction. Supports engineers and designers of all disciplines through a variety of tasks, including proposal drawings, red marks, and sketches. Additional support will include locating, updating, and developing new drawings or updating existing drawings to address a backlog in configuration management needs.

  • Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) with demonstrated experience with MicroStation computer-aided drafting applications to originate and produce drawings with minimum supervision.
  • Read, interpret, and generate design drawings with minimal input from a member of the engineering staff.  Must have the ability to walk down field systems with minimal guidance, interpret field direction, generate minor design details, create new drawings, modify existing drawings, and direct junior drafters.

Qualifications

  • Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must have a minimum of an associate degree in a field related to the position and a minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in drafting related to Engineering and Construction.
  • Background and experience must include drafting/ designer experience in two or more engineering fields, such as electrical, mechanical, structural, communications, architectural, or civil.
  • Electrical design, power transmission, and distribution experience, with substations or the drawing design/construction of distribution lines.
  • High-voltage drafting experience, 4860V up to 138kv.
  • Ability to work in a diverse work environment.
  • Satisfactory results of a pre-employment screening, which includes a background check and drug screening.

 

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience working on U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) or NNSA contracts is preferred.
  • Local candidates are preferred but open to remote workers with occasional site visits required.
